We propose to be in Dalry during the week preceding the opening of the primary school, in order to work on the production of a publication to mark this event. Our activities leading up to and embodied in the publication are intended to explore different ways of learning, focussing on intuitive experimentation and an awareness of ideas outside some of the rigidities in educational structures.

In the innovative spirit and philosophy behind the school we will introduce and develop an inclusive project with the pupils and the people of Dalry. Within this will be a structure that will communicate through film, Internet and mail in old and new ways. This will enable a platform for discussion, allowing an assessment of learning in the present educational system.

Living outside Dalry, we have chosen to use the communicating distance in a positive way, using energy and imagination to build a relationship based upon shared thoughts and ideas around learning. We will focus on discovering or rediscovering ideas of magic and phenomenon, which has proven to be particularly engaging for learning:

A boy in Scotland throws a stick a man in London falls over.

We cannot predict what this building relationship will bring about but the project intends to explore the possibilities.

The accompanying DVD is our beginning; it introduces the people and characters involved in the project. We will follow this up on a regular basis and find ways to play or relay the instalments to the pupils and people of Dalry.
